Egypt has postponed the launch of its first communication satellite into orbit for technical reasons.
Tiba-1 was due to launch at 2108 GMT on Friday on one of Europe's Arianespace rockets from a space center in French Guiana.
It is named after Thebes or Tiba in Arabic, an ancient Egyptian capital the ruins of which lie within the modern southern city of Luxor.
Arianespace issued a statement indicating that the targeted launch date is on Sunday, at the earliest.
“Due to a power supply anomaly in the ground segment of the Ariane 5 launch complex, the final chronology for Flight VA250 was stopped at 20 minutes prior to liftoff, leading to a launch postponement,” the statement reads.
