Launch a new career by joining the crew at the National Space Centre

For stargazers who fancy exploring deep space without dealing with the liquid food and zero gravity, here's a job opportunity that could take your career into orbit.

The National Space Centre in Leicester is looking for talented staff to join their Space Crew - and you don't need a degree in physics and astronomy to apply.

The jobs are a customer-facing role that will involve ticketing, catering, retail and exhibition guiding at the museum and education centre.

The National Space Centre, which opened in 2001, is linked to the University of Leicester and the displays include rockets, a planetarium and a Soyuz spacecraft.

It also plays host to sci fi conventions for fans of Star Wars, Doctor Who and other hit movies and shows - so visitors can sometimes include Darth Vader, stormtroopers or the Daleks.

The new roles  are part time - so are ideal for those still undergoing their astronaut training.

There is no need for any formal expertise in astronomy to apply.

“A space science background is not necessary,'' reads the advert, but you will need to show commitment to the team and the ability to offer an excellent standard of service.

Applications for this Space Crew Team Member role close on Tuesday 8 May - apply now on Fish4jobs .
