Laughter as thief nicks Guilty perfume

But it was no laughing matter for Geoffrey Muirhead, who was remanded in custody after pleading guilty to the offence.

Muirhead, aged 39, of Elba Gardens, Ayr, appeared from custody at the town’s sheriff court on Wednesday, August 8 and admitted stealing a quantity of perfume from Debenhams, in Ayr Central, on July 22.

Fiscal Depute Andrew Lazzarin told the court how the value of the perfume, ‘Gucci Guilty’ was £95, adding that CCTV in the shop uncovered the theft.

Sheriff Mhairi Mactaggart deferred sentence on Muirhead until September in order to obtain a Criminal Justice Social Work Report and Muirhead was taken back to custody.
