'Laughing stock' - Leeds United fans react to potential blow ahead of Forest clash

Leeds United fans are in panic mode ahead of their clash with Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

Marcelo Bielsa's marquee January signing, Jean-Kevin Augustin is expected to make his Whites debut at the City Ground in a game that could prove vital for both sides come the end of the season.

But his place in Bielsa's side could now be in doubt after Leeds were dealt a major blow during their Under-23s clash with Sheffield Wednesday.

Augustin was in action for the first time in a Leeds shirt and looked dangerous at Hillsborough before a crunching tackle just before half-time left him in a heap on the deck in the centre circle, receiving treatment.

The RB Leipzig loanee, who is expected to complete a permanent move to Elland Road for a record-breaking fee in excess of £17m next summer, eventually got back to his feet and was waved back on by the referee but did not return to full speed before he hobbled down the tunnel at half-time.

He was then replaced by Manchester City youngster Ian Poveda.

The club have assure supporters that the substitution was routine, but Leeds fans are suspicious and have taken to social media, frustrated at the thought of their exciting new signing missing Saturday's big game through injury.

Jamie Grott: If Augustin is actually injured that would almost be funny.

Josh Macca: If Augustin is out injured, we will be the laughing stock of the league.

Paul Milner: Augustin injured, nice one.

Johnny Dugan: If Augustin is injured, I’m away to the pub.

Sirjeet Singh: Is this us showing Augustin the ropes? Easing him in? Forshaw showing him how to hit the deck and get injured.

Ashleigh Lauren: It’d have been Leeds all over if Augustin had have got proper injured there.

Liam R: Augustin down. If he’s injured badly, that’s typical Leeds.
