Latest waterfront apartments on the horizon

Miller Property hopes to start work early next year on its Honeysuckle apartments after releasing final images for the Horizon on the Harbour redevelopment.

The developer, which is partnering with Canberra builder BLOC on the project, agreed to buy the 5600-square metre site from the state government for about $16 million last year.

The plans, which are being assessed as what the government terms a state significant development, include 110 units across three buildings.

Miller and BLOC also built the Verve apartments nearby on King Street.

Miller Property boss Warwick Miller said construction would start after Hunter and Central Coast Development Corporation had completed work on realigning Honeysuckle Drive.

He said Horizon on the Harbour would market the apartments rather than employ a real estate agent.

The redevelopment sits between what will be a landscaped Cottage Creek and Doma Group's Huntington waterfront apartments now under construction.

On the other side of Cottage Creek, HCCDC holds a huge 20,000-square metre parcel of land earmarked for development up to 90 metres high.

Mr Miller joined the chorus of people calling for the site to accommodate more than apartments when it hits the market.

"It seems logical to me you would have facilities constructed there which would attract people, and those facilities could and probably should include a supermarket, could possibly include an entertainment centre, convention centre and certainly a mix of residential with it," he said.

"I think there's 200,000 square metres of GFA [gross floor area]."

HCCDC is spending $55 million on upgrading seawalls, straightening Honeysuckle Drive and landscaping.
