Latest updates for Haven, Butlins and Center Parcs holidays as Boris Johnson makes lockdown announcement

England is set to be free from coronavirus restrictions next week if lockdown roadmap plans stay the same.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson will make a lockdown announcement later today (July 12), confirming when the next stage of unlocking England will go ahead.

The PM said: “We are tantalisingly close to the final milestone in our road map out of lockdown, but the plan to restore our freedoms must come with a warning.

“While the phenomenal vaccine rollout has offered every adult some protection against the virus, and the crucial link between cases, hospitalisations and deaths is weakened, the global pandemic is not over yet.

“Cases will rise as we unlock, so as we confirm our plans today, our message will be clear. Caution is absolutely vital, and we must all take responsibility so we don’t undo our progress, ensuring we continue to protect our NHS.”

If announced it will mean there will be no limits on how many people can meet, the 1m-plus rule will be removed and face masks will no longer be required.

It's good news for holidaymakers too, as fully vaccinated adults in the UK will no longer have to quarantine for 10 days after returning from amber listed countries.

Guidance recommending against travel to amber countries will also be removed and under-18s won't need to quarantine.

UK holidays will not be subject to travel bans and holiday parks such as those run by Haven, Butlins and Center Parcs will have their own restrictions ranging from limited capacity in restaurants to pre-booking for activities.

Ahead of the PM's announcement this afternoon, we asked some of the country's top holiday parks to find out exactly what a UK holiday will look like after July 19.

Haven

When we approached Haven it confirmed it will shortly be finalising plans for parks on July 19, once the PM has made his announcement.

However it has confirmed restaurants and entertainment will still need to be booked in advance.

It says: "Advanced booking will remain in place and ahead of your arrival, you can book a table inside our restaurants in the following ways:

"Tables can be booked on a rolling 14-day basis which means you will be able to book a table two weeks in advance of the day you want to dine."

Haven will be increasing the capacity of swimming pools after July 19 as restrictions are relaxed.

A Butlin's spokesperson said: "Subject to the government’s next announcement on Monday, we’re pleased to announce a number of changes to all breaks from July 19.

"Guests can just turn up to our amazing splash pools, with no need to book.

"The same applies for our Skyline shows.

"We’ll be adding thousands more spaces for guests to enjoy show in our other entertainment venues by increasing the number of slots and capacity. These will still be bookable, so there’s no need to queue.

"We’ll continue to work through the detail on what this means for our other facilities and will update guests with any further changes."

Center Parcs

Center Parcs has announced that all of its villages are now open.

A Center Parcs spokesperson said: "Following the UK Government announcement on their roadmap for re-opening society over the coming weeks and months, we’re delighted to announce that all of our UK villages are now open."

The parks already have enhanced cleaning, perspex screens for staff and hand sanitiser units.

Center Parcs is running many of its usual activities, although it has reduced the number of guests per session.

Restaurants are open for indoor and outdoor dining on a pre-booked basis (maximum table size will be six people); reservations can be booked on their website before or during your stay.
