Latest update on Theo Fages' St Helens future as halfback enters closing stages of his contract

Theo Fages' future remains up in the air as the St Helens star enters the closing months of his current deal.

The halfback, who has featured for Saints in their back-to-back Grand Final winning campaigns, has yet to sign a new deal with the club.

He is now free to speak to other clubs, with a number of clubs almost certain to chase the France captain.

Speaking to Rugby League Live, Fages' agent, Graeme Taylor, provided the latest on his status.

"What I can tell you about Theo is he has been in England ten years now, it's a long time," he said.

"There's not many people who can leave their home country at 16 and ten years down the line be still there. I think that's a credit to him.

"In terms of where we are, I don't think we're any further forward, we're a week into the window, there are conversations going on, so who knows?

"There's no rush, absolutely no rush, it's the start of the season and Theo will make the decision that's right for himself.

"I'll give him my views, I will give him my recommendations and advise what I think is best for his career. Theo will make that decision what's right for him, and that decision hasn't been made yet."

Fages is off-contract at Saints alongside Lachlan Coote, Kevin Naiqama and James Bentley.
