Hunter New England Health has reported no new coronavirus infections for the second time in four days.
The health service said the number of confirmed cases remained at 248 in the 24 hours to 8pm on Monday night, the most recently available figures.
HNEH hospitals are caring for 12 COVID-19 patients, including five in intensive care units.
Across the district, another 29 patients have recovered in the past 24 hours, taking the total number of cases recovered to 117.
A patient is regarded as "recovered" if at least 10 days have passed since the onset of symptoms and all symptoms of the acute illness have passed for at least 72 hours.
Public health physician Dr David Durrheim thanked the recovered patients and their close contacts for helping to contain the virus.
"Through no fault of their own, these people contracted COVID-19 and put their work and social lives on hold, working closely with us and observing strict isolation to prevent the further spread of the illness and protect our communities," Dr Durrheim said.
"In many cases, they were asked to isolate weeks before lock-downs and social distancing were broadly introduced across the state. We acknowledge it hasn't been easy.
"We thank the patients and their communities for their commendable effort, which has significantly limited community transmission."
HNEH also reported no new cases on Friday.
