Tottenham have improved considerably under Jose Mourinho but the 2-1 defeat at Chelsea over the weekend has shown that the club are still far away from where they want to be.
Mourinho will be eager to recruit heavily during the summer window as he tries to get his side up to scratch.
The club have never been that far away from speculation and it is already the case in February ahead of the next transfer window.
Here are the latest rumours.
Tottenham linked with Guirassy
Tottenham could be set to seal a deal for a striker, according to reports.
Both Spurs and West Ham United are battling for Amiens SC forward Serhou Guirassy.
Guirassy, 23, is rated highly across Europe and Amiens are willing to sell up, The Sun claim.
Mourinho transfer message
Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho has been told to complete a transfer for Jack Grealish.
The Aston Villa captain has enjoyed a strong season to date in the Premier League and has been linked with a move to Manchester United among others.
Spurs almost pulled off a deal with Grealish in the summer of 2018 and now Jamie O’Hara has explained why Mourinho should make a deal happen.
Former Spurs and Wolves man O’Hara told talkSPORT: “For me, Grealish fits into that Tottenham team. Absolutely. He gets in pockets.
“Grealish would fit perfectly into Spurs’ set-up. He gets into those pockets, he makes things happen, and he would be the one that could link up and put people in like (Lucas) Moura, Son (Heung-min) and (Steven) Bergwijn. I think Grealish would definitely be on Tottenham’s shopping list.”
Smalling linked with Spurs
Chris Smalling has thrived at Roma since leaving Manchester United on loan last summer and now his future is the subject of much debate.
There has been talk that the centre-back could stay put in Italy but now he has also been linked with a move to Tottenham.
Corriere Dello Sport, per the Express, state that United are willing to sell up for £16.5million, with Spurs and Everton said to have already expressed their desires to sign the defender.
