Latest Tottenham transfer rumours: Striker available in January, Mourinho eyes £15m defender

Tottenham's fine start to the season continued on the weekend with a hard-fought draw against London rivals and fellow fast starters Chelsea.

The draw too Spurs back to the top of the table as they continue their tough run of fixtures in the Premier League, next up against North London rivals Arsenal following games against Manchester City and Chelsea.

Tottenham look as though they could be in with a shout of competing for the title this season, but to maintain their charge, they may need to strengthen in the January transfer window.

Jose Mourinho added plenty of talent in the summer window but the Portuguese boss has an unrelenting desire to improve, meaning signings are likely in the winter.

And with that in mind, we have rounded up all the latest transfer talk concerning Spurs.

Take a look below.

Tottenham can sign Dutch frontman

Tottenham are said to still hold an interest in Wolfsburg striker Wout Weghorst with Carlos Vinicius only on loan currently from Benfirca.

Mourinho searched high and low for another striker option during the summer window and eventually settled on a loan deal for Vinicius.

But if the Brazilian returns to Benfica after this season, Spurs might be back to square one as they search for support for star striker Harry Kane.

According to Football 365, Spurs could return to Weghorst if that is the case next summer and the Dutch striker is very much available for the right offer.

Wolfsburg's managing director, Jorg Schmadtke, told SportBuzzer : "We hold the reins in our hands. Then we tip the scales and decide whether or not.

“We have always said: If there is a reasonable offer that Wout also considers interesting, then we will sit down and discuss it. That’s how we discussed it when he renewed his contract. But everyone knows that I don’t like doing transfers in winter!”

Spurs eye defender

Spurs are said to be tracking Sassuolo defender Gian Marco Ferrari.

The Serie A defender was linked with a host of clubs in the summer window, including Napoli, Roma and Everton, but he ended up staying at his current club, who are now third in Serie A.

Ferrari is a centre-back, a position Mourinho is reportedly keen to strengthen in the window, and he is also left-footed, another characteristic the Spurs boss is searching for.

It's reported Tottenham don't want to spend more than £15million on a defender in the winter but Ferrari could well be available for less than that figure.

Eriksen on the move again

It seems former Spurs midfielder Christian Eriksen will be leaving Inter Milan in the winter window.

The Dane will only have been at San Siro for a year come January, but things haven't gone to plan for him in Serie A.

Eriksen has only started three games in the league this season and transfer expert Fabrizio Romano believes an exit is inevitable.

“Inter are ready to sell Christian Eriksen in January, they are convinced that this is the best solution for Christian Eriksen and for the team too," he said on Que Golazo Podcast.

“They want money, that’s around €30million to sell Christian Eriksen in January.”

“For sure, Christian Eriksen will leave the club.”
