Latest Tottenham transfer rumours: Spurs star set for new contract, Gedson Fernandes decision

The summer transfer window may have now shut but the speculation continues and it will not be long until clubs can do business once again.

The window reopens for a month from the start of January, as Tottenham and their rivals look to see what they need - or do not need - for the second part of the season.

Despite a successful window for Jose Mourinho's side, the rumours mill continues to swirl.

Here are the latest Spurs transfer rumours.

Son contract

Tottenham ace Son Heung-min is set to land a new contract, according to the Daily Mail.

After completing their summer transfer business, the focus is apparently now turning to securing the future of the current squad.

Tying down the in-form Son to a contract extension is said to have been identified as a top priority. He still has two-and-a-half years to run on his current deal.

The futures of Serge Aurier and Erik Lamela, whose contracts expire at the end of next season, are also likely to be discussed, says the Mail.

Gedson return

Tottenham are considering sending back Gedson Fernandes.

The 21-year-old moved to north London in January this year on an 18-month loan deal from Benfica.

According to Spanish outlet A Bola, Spurs will cut the midfielder's loan spell short and send him back to the Portuguese giants in January.

It's thought that Tottenham have the option to make the deal permanent for a fee of €50million but that seems incredibly unlikely.

Da Cruz exit

Belgian side Mouscron are eyeing up a move for Tottenham assistant João Sacramento after sacking manager Fernando Da Cruz.

Tottenham coach Sacramento is now at the top of their list of replacements, with Het Laatste Nieuws stating that he ‘will take over’ if Mouscron’s owner, Gérard Lopez, can ‘detach’ him from Spurs.

Lopez is also the owner of French side Lille so knows Sacramento well, with the assistant coach having spent two years in a similar role with the Ligue 1 team before linking up with Mourinho.

Lopez is also considering another Portuguese coach, Miguel Cardoso, as an alternative according to HLN.
