Latest Tottenham transfer rumours: Spurs retain Muriqi interest, Madrid eye Kane, Milik latest

Tottenham Hotspur will be looking to overcome a one-goal deficit when they face German club RB Leipzig in the second-leg of their UEFA Champions League last-16 tie this evening.

Timo Werner's second half penalty was enough to get the job done for Leipzig in the first-leg at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium three weeks ago, meaning anything less than a win for Spurs this evening would see them knocked out of the competition.

Unfortunately for Spurs, they do not head into the contest in brilliant form, with Jose Mourinho's side having failed to win any of their last five matches in all competitions.

And with Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son still sidelined through injury, all the pointers suggest that Spurs could be in for a tough evening.

Should Spurs bow out of the competition, it would mean that their only hopes of securing Champions League football for next season would entirely rest on securing a top-four berth in the Premier League this season.

But with Mourinho seemingly becoming incredibly frustrated with his current squad in North London, a big summer of alteration could be on the horizon at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Jose Mourinho believes he will win a trophy with Spurs

With that in mind, here is a round-up of the very latest Tottenham transfer news.

Spurs expected to make Muriqi offer

Tottenham are still interested in signing Fenerbahce striker Vedat Muriqi and could make an offer for the Kosovo international in the summer transfer window, according to Sport Witness.

The striker, who is 25, was closely linked with a move to North London during the recent January transfer window.

Spurs are on the look out for a back-up striker to provide support to star man Kane, with Muriqi said to be the ideal candidate.

And it is reported that Spurs are a club that are "insistent" on Muriqi and are expected to launch a €20million offer.

Real Madrid want Pochettino and Kane

Real Madrid are in talks with former Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino about the possibility of the Argentine becoming their new manager, report Sports Mole.

Pochettino, who took Spurs to the Champions League final last season, has been out of work since being axed by Tottenham in November.

And should Madrid succeed in their efforts to appoint Pochettino, it is reported that he will make striker Kane his top transfer target.

The England captain blossomed under the leadership of Pochettino in North London and could relish the prospect of possibly doing the same in Spain.

Spurs to rival Arsenal for Napoli star

Tottenham are set to go toe-to-toe with arch rivals Arsenal in the race to sign Poland international Arkadiusz Milik from Napoli this summer, report the Mirror.

Mourinho is almost certain to make signing a striker his top priority this summer, as he has been short on attacking options in the absence of Kane and Son.

But Spurs, if they are to sign the 26-year-old, will have to get past their nearest rivals, as Arsenal, too, could be on the look out for a striker if they have to sell Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang this summer.

This season, Milik has been in solid goal-scoring form, netting a respectable 12 goals in 22 matches across all competitions.
