Latest Tottenham transfer rumours: Spurs lead race for £60m defender, van de Beek boost

The latest Tottenham transfer gossip round-up for Sunday, April 5.

Tottenham lead race for Diop

Spurs are reported to be leading the race to sign West Ham defender Issa Diop, according to TeamTALK.

The highly-rated central defender has been at the east London club since signing in 2018 for an estimated £22.5million.

However, a fee far greater than that is expected to be his current club’s asking price this summer.

For Mourinho, signing a central defender at the age of 23 could be a smart investment given the ageing pair of Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen at the back.

A reported fee of around £60million has been put on the shoulders of Diop ahead of this summer’s window.

Enquiry for Rangers star

Agent of Rangers loanee Ianis Hagi has revealed that Spurs boss Jose Mourinho has made contact about the midfielder’s availability.

The son of former Barcelona and Real Madrid star Gheorghe Hagi has been a key part of Steven Gerrard’s Rangers side since moving on loan in the January transfer window but could be on the move yet again.

“There's a lot of top people in European football who know all about Ianis and what he can do… I have been asked personally by Jose Mourinho and Txiki Begiristain about Ianis Hagi,” Hagi’s agent, Giovani Becali, told the Daily Mail.

Further addition to Spurs’ midfield would be welcome this coming summer window, given that Mourinho currently has few options there.

Van de Beek boost

Spurs and Manchester United target Donny Van de Beek has insisted that he has not yet agreed terms with Real Madrid.

The Ajax midfielder has been closely linked with a move to the Spanish capital despite interest from England, but there could be a possible U-turn for the Dutch international.

In Helden magazine he revealed: "Playing in the sun is always nice, but no, I haven't started taking Spanish classes.

"I still haven't said 'yes' to anyone, it's all open.”

From Spurs’ perspective, any potential move for the midfielder will most likely be based on any movement from Real Madrid. The weight of the Spanish giants means that Mourinho’s side may have to hold out for a slice of fortune in gaining the Dutch player’s service this summer.
