Latest Tottenham transfer rumours: Positive step in Hojbjerg pursuit, Spurs face Hakimi battle

Once the 2019/20 Premier League campaign is finally concluded, Jose Mourinho can prepare for his first summer transfer window in charge of Tottenham Hotspur.

It’s been a mixed but largely underwhelming campaign for Spurs, especially after such a strong showing in 2018/19.

Mourinho has essentially worked with Mauricio Pochettino’s squad since taking charge in November. But this summer will be the Portuguese coach's big chance to bring his own players into the squad.

And here the latest Tottenham transfer rumours.

Saints ready to sell Spurs target

Southampton are willing to sell captain and reported Tottenham target Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg this summer, according to the Evening Standard.

However, the Saints are unlikely to accept anything less than £35m for the former Bayern Munich midfielder.

Hojbjerg has just one year remaining on his contract at St Mary's and the Saints are prepared to accept a fee for the 24-year-old this summer rather than lose him for nothing in 12 months time.

The report states, however, that Southampton are yet to be officially contacted over Hojbjerg, who has been at the club since 2016.

Interest in former Arsenal star remains

Tottenham remain interested in signing Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud but would face competition from West Ham United, according to the Express.

Giroud, who spent six years at Spurs’ north London rivals Arsenal before joining Chelsea in 2018, has just signed a one-year extension at Stamford Bridge.

However, with Timo Werner set to the Blues once the campaign is concluded, Frank Lampard’s side could let the France striker leave for just £7m.

Spurs were linked with a move for the World Cup winner in January but he remained in west London and scored when the two sides faced off in February.

Tottenham eye Dortmund's on-loan star

Tottenham, Chelsea and Manchester City are all eyeing a move for Real Madrid full-back Achraf Hakimi, according to 90Min.

Hakimi has spent the last two seasons on loan at Borussia Dortmund and has become one of the most sought-after talents in European football.

The Premier League trio are unsurprisingly not alone in the race for the Morocco international, with Juventus, Inter Milan and Paris Saint-Germain also keen.

Tottenham have asked Real Madrid about Hakimi and whether they would entertain offers, according to the report.
