The Premier League looks to be edging nearer to a return, and we could well see Tottenham back in action next month.
Spurs’ top four hopes looked to be fading fast before the coronavirus outbreak saw the season suspended.
The break has left a number of issues up in the air, not least the matter of the summer transfer window – although that hasn’t stopped speculation of what business Jose Mourinho might do.
Here are the latest transfer rumours to come from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Spurs 'firmly in race' to sign Coutinho
Paul Robinson believes his former side will be in the race to sign Philippe Coutinho this summer as the ex-Liverpool star looks set to make a move.
The Brazilian has endured an indifferent season on-loan with Bayern Munich from Barcelona, and the German giants have confirmed they will not be taking up the option to sign him this summer.
That has put a number of clubs on high alert, with Arsenal and Chelsea reportedly interested, and former goalkeeper Robinson believes Spurs will also be in the running.
“I can still see the Coutinho deal being done,” Robinson told Football Insider. “Bayern have not taken the option and he has clearly not been part of Barcelona’s plans for a while now and I can see a move back to the Premier League happening.”
Pochettino wants Kane at Newcastle
Mauricio Pochettino will reportedly make signing Harry Kane his main objective should he be appointed Newcastle United manager.
The former Spurs boss is being touted as a replacement for Steve Bruce should the £300million takeover of the Magpies be completed.
According to Spanish publication Todofichajes, Pochettino is edging closer to becoming the Newcastle manager, with an agreement between himself and the club “practically closed”.
The report also claims that the 48-year-old will target a reunion with Kane as he makes the England captain one of his main transfer objectives.
Roma eyeing up Vertonghen move
Roma have set their sights on Jan Vertonghen as part of a summer spending spree that could also see them raid Chelsea.
The Belgian is out of contract at Spurs this summer and, according to the Express, Roma are willing to offer the defender a three-year deal to make the move to Italy.
Roma boss Paulo Fonseca has also reportedly set his sights on Chelsea forward Pedro, who is expected to leave the Blues at the end of the current campaign.
Fonseca is believed to want to pair the Spain international with Henrikh Mkhitaryan, who he is hoping to secure another loan deal for from Arsenal.
