Latest Tottenham transfer rumours: Ndombele and Sessegnon to Barcelona, Vertonghen update

Tottenham have approached crunch time in their push to secure European football next season, though at this stage involvement in the Europa League seems more likely than the Champions League.

Jose Mourinho's side have struggled for consistency since the Premier League season resumed following the coronavirus crisis and there's plenty of work to be done.

The experienced boss is likely to enter the market for new recruits to fit his philosophy at the club and plenty of speculation has orientated about potential deals.

Here, we have gathered some of the latest snippets surrounding Spurs.

Barcelona make approaches for Spurs duo

Barcelona have approached Tottenham about signing Tanguy Ndombele and Ryan Sessegnon in part-exchange deals, reports from the Evening Standard state.

The La Liga side are looking for new additions in the summer transfer market but, following the financial impact from the coronavirus crisis, are cash-strapped and can only secure a deal if Spurs accept players in return.

However, Jose Mourinho is said to have personally blocked advances for Sessegnon and Spurs are also unwilling to discuss a move for record-signing Ndombele at present, despite Mourinho's doubts about the Frenchman.

The pair cost a combined £80million last summer but both will consider their futures at the end of the season if they fear another campaign on the fringes.

Fenerbache join Vertonghen chase

Turkish giants Fenerbache have joined arch-rivals Besiktas in the hunt to land Tottenham defender Jan Vertonghen in the summer transfer window, reports cited by Sport Witness state.

The 33-year-old is unlikely to extend his deal in North London and will therefore become available on a free transfer at the end of the season.

Besiktas have previously been attributed with an interest in the Belgian defender but it's now added that Fenerbache's new sporting director Emre Belozoglu sees him as the ideal option to improve their defence.

Vertonghen has barely featured for Mourinho's side since the Premier League resumed and looks to be in his final few weeks at the club.

Spurs considering Sessegnon loan

Tottenham are considering sending Ryan Sessegnon on loan next season in order for the youngster to earn more regular first-team opportunities, the Telegraph states.

The £25m signing from Fulham last summer has not played a single minute since the Premier League's restart and was left out of the squad for Monday's draw with Everton.

20-year-old Sessegnon has struggled with injury issues this season and first-team opportunities have not been forthcoming regularly under Mourinho, as he's made just four starts.

While they still rate Sessegnon highly. it's reported that they are considering a loan move to help aid his development.
