Latest Tottenham transfer rumours: Max Aarons addresses his future, Spurs face Muriqi battle

The transfer window is now officially open, and Tottenham Hotspur could be set for a big summer.

Having secured European football with their final day draw at Crystal Palace, Spurs will be looking to strengthen as they aim to improve on an up and down campaign.

Jose Mourinho will be aiming to put his stamp on the side, having already made a big impact following the departure of Jan Vertonghen.

Here are the latest transfer rumours and gossip coming from North London.

Alasdair Gold's Spurs season debrief and the transfer window

Aarons breaks silence

Max Aarons has broken his silence on the continued speculation linking him with a move away from Norwich City.

“It’s kind of natural that, as a 20-year-old playing in the Premier League, there will be things out there in the press,” Aarons told The Athletic when asked about his future.

“I just leave that to the people off the pitch, like Stuart or the club, to deal with. I’ve just tried to focus on finishing the season well in myself and now going away, relaxing over the weeks we have off, and then coming in strong for pre-season.

“Anything else that happens or takes place; it’s not really in my hands. All I can do as a professional footballer is try to develop my game and come back sharp, come back strong and come back ready for a big season.

“I’ve got four years left on my contract here, so I’ll be coming back ready to go. Ready to attack next year.

“As the manager said, we need some fresh blood, we’ve made two new signings (in Jacob Sorensen and Przemyslaw Placheta) and it looks really positive.

“They will definitely improve the team. We’ve got a good core group here and if we can just add some fresh energy at different points, we’ll be stronger than ever.”

Muriqi competition

Leicester City, West Bromwich Albion and Lazio have joined Tottenham in the race to sign Fenerbahce striker Vedat Muriqi.

According to A Spor - via Turkish Football - the trio have joined the race for the forward who will be allowed to leave the club this summer for the right price.

Muriqi ended the season with 17 goals and seven assists in 36 appearances and another three years remaining on his Fenerbahce contract.

Foyth wants to stay

Juan Foyth has now claimed that he would like to stay and fight for his future at Tottenham.

Leeds United are believed to be weighing up a move for the Spurs defender ahead of their long-awaited return to the Premier League next season.

But speaking to Libero, he said: “If I have the chance to compete for a spot, I would like to stay at Spurs.

“Mourinho is very close to the players. Even though I didn’t play much, I think he’s a great coach and person. He wants to win at all costs.”
