Latest Tottenham transfer rumours: Marcel Sabitzer offer submitted, Luka Modric decision made

Tottenham have enjoyed a steady start to the season, currently sitting in eighth and with the chance to move up to third with a win over Wolves this evening.

Spurs are on a bad run of form currently, failing to win any of their last three and losing back-to-back games ahead of their trip to Wolves.

But Jose Mourinho can still be pleased that his side are within six points of leaders Liverpool as we prepare to move into the new year, which will kick off with what should be another busy transfer window.

And Mourinho is likely to get involved as he looks to strengthen his Spurs squad for the second half of the season. With that in mind, we take you through all the latest rumours concerning Tottenham below.

Sabitzer offer already on the table

Tottenham are said to hold serious interest in RB Leipzig midfielder Marcel Sabitzer.

According to journalist Ekrem Konur, Spurs have already begun talks with Leipzig over a possible deal ahead of the January transfer window.

The report claims Tottenham have made a player-plus-cash offer for Sabitzer but it's not clear who the player is.

Sabitzer is a versatile midfielder capable of playing in a number of positions, and that's something Mourinho has been attracted by as he looks to strengthen his squad ahead of the final stretch.

Aurier opens door to PSG move

Serge Aurier has spoken about the possibility of returning to former club PSG in the future amid the expected appointment of former Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino.

“When I say PSG is the club close to my heart, I don’t want journalists to say, ‘He can’t say that!’ But of course I will answer," he admitted to The Sun. “It’s the club I’ve loved the most out of all the clubs I’ve played for.

“Paris is where I turned into a man, as a professional, where I discovered myself more. That’s where I enjoyed myself the most. When I was a youngster at Lens, Paris was the club of my heart.

“One day, it would be no problem at all to go back, with pleasure. I will never turn down an offer from Paris, that is absolutely certain.

“If ever it comes up, why not? If it doesn’t, I’m very happy where I am and things are going well for me.”

Modric talk put to bed

Mourinho was said to be interested in securing a reunion with Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric in the summer with the Croatian's deal coming to an end at the end of the season.

As things stand, Spurs, and indeed any other club outside La Liga, would be able to negotiate a pre-contract agreement from January with the midfielder ahead of the summer.

And that was reportedly Mourinho's plan as he looked to bring Modric back to North London, but according to Marca, Modric has now agreed a new deal with Real Madrid.

The report claims the 25-year-old has extended his contract to 2022, meaning he should reach his 10-year anniversary at the Santiago Bernabeu, having been at the club since 2012.
