Latest Tottenham transfer rumours: Man City eye shock Harry Kane swoop, Christian Eriksen updates

Tottenham are aiming to increase the quality in their squad this month by securing new talent in the January transfer window.

Jose Mourinho has his first opportunity to make a positive impact from a recruitment perspective but he will not be able to spend as much money as he has done in previous roles.

The Portuguese manager enjoyed lavishing spending at the likes of Real Madrid, Chelsea and Manchester United but that will not be the case as much with Spurs.

But this hasn't stopped endless speculation and here is the latest round-up of rumours.

Tottenham striker Harry Kane set for lengthy spell on the sidelines after injury

City aiming to land Kane

Manchester City are keeping tabs Harry Kane as Tottenham potentially prepare to brace themselves for a transfer bid down the line, according to reports.

The England captain is out of action until at least April due to a hamstring injury and could even miss the rest of the season.

But the 26-year-old is still one of the Premier League's best in front of goal when fit and he has many top years left in him.

Those seasons could be spent away from the capital if City have anything to do with it.

Sergio Aguero is City's current top frontman but the club are preparing for the Argentine's eventual exit, with striker tied down until the end of next season.

MailOnline have now linked Kane with the Blues should Aguero not come to terms on a new deal.

Kane injury could lead to Benteke arrival

Christian Benteke has been offered to Tottenham after Harry Kane's potentially season-ending injury.

Kane may miss the rest of the season and it has led to Spurs looking at options to replace the striker during the January transfer window.

This has now led to the reports that Crystal Palace have offered Benteke to Spurs.

"Italian reports have even linked Fernando Llorente with a return to Tottenham on loan, just six months after he was not offered a new contract and joined Napoli, while Crystal Palace flop Christian Benteke has been offered to Spurs and has not yet been rejected," a Telegraph report has stated.

Eriksen transfer latest

Christian Eriksen could yet see out his current Tottenham deal which expires in the summer, according to reports.

The Denmark international has been linked with Inter Milan and Paris Saint-Germain of late but the Italians have failed to meet Spurs' demands.

Tottenham want £25 million for the playmaker, with Inter said to have offered between £8m to £10m for the 27-year-old.

PSG are willing to meet the valuation but Eriksen is understood to be worried about finding game-time difficult to come by in France, according to the Independent.

However, it has also been reported that Eriksen has agreed to terms with Inter.

"Christian Eriksen has just accepted to join Inter in January - he’d like to move immediately and is “ready to agree” personal terms," Sky Sport Italia journalist Fabrizio Romano tweeted on Tuesday evening.

"Inter have now started official talks with Tottenham: €10M offered, Spurs want €20M. Talks ongoing."
