Latest Tottenham transfer rumours: Levy stopped exit, Rose decision, Watkins revelation

Tottenham have just enjoyed one of their most impressive summer transfer windows in recent times.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Joe Hart, Matt Doherty, Gareth Bale, Sergio Reguilon, Giovani Lo Celso (on a permanent deal) and Carlos Vinicius all arrived in north London ahead of the 2020-21 season.

The eye-catching business has unsurprisingly excited Spurs supporters and with the January window not too far away, there could be even more business - with incomings and outgoings.

Today’s edition of Spurs transfer rumours is focusing on players that could be leaving the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Should Spurs win a trophy this season?

Levy’s role in Gazzaniga staying

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy played a key role in Paulo Gazzaniga staying at the club beyond this summer.

That’s according to The Athletic’s David Ornstein, who has been quoted speaking on the latest Ask Ornstein episode on YouTube.

Everton were reportedly very interested in the Argentine goalkeeper, and when Ornstein was asked about how close Carlo Ancelotti’s side got, he replied: “I’m not sure how close they got.

“I do know that Everton were looking into Gazzaniga, but what Daniel Levy wanted for him was too expensive for what Everton were looking to pay.”

Rose could snub Championship move

Former Tottenham midfielder Michael Brown believes Danny Rose could turn down a move to the Championship in the coming days.

Rose is out-of-favour under Mourinho and looks set to leave the club - and he could go to a second-tier club before the domestic-only deadline passes on October 16.

However, Brown believes he would not want to drop down a division, when talking to Football Insider: “He wouldn’t want to do that (drop down a division).

“He’d want to play in the Premier League or an international league for sure.”

Spurs wanted Watkins before Villa move

Tottenham had the chance to sign Ollie Watkins, but were put off by his £28m price tag, according to Football Insider.

Watkins subsequently moved to Aston Villa, and has impressed for Dean Smith’s side since his move - bagging a perfect hat-trick against Liverpool recently.

The report states that the ex-Brentford striker was keen on a move to Spurs, despite having the knowledge that he’d be second-choice to Harry Kane.

Whilst Levy and the Spurs board were trying to get his price down, Villa swooped in and completed the deal for the English forward.
