Latest Tottenham transfer rumours: Dominik Szoboszlai race hots up, Camavinga opens up on links

It is almost becoming a common occurrence for Tottenham Hotspur to sit atop the Premier League.

After taking up residence at the division's summit the previous weekend for a matter of hours following a narrow 1-0 win over West Bromwich Albion, Tottenham head into this upcoming weekend top of the pile after a superb 2-0 victory against Manchester City.

Jose Mourinho was hailed for concocting a tactical masterclass against his old adversary Pep Guardiola at the weekend.

Despite registering just four shots, two of which they scored from, having 22 efforts fired at towards keeper Hugo Lloris, and conceding 66% possession, Spurs looked comfortable against City.

Their summer signings of Sergio Reguilon, Pierre-Emile Højbjerg, and Giovani Lo Celso, who scored his side's second goal 35 seconds after coming on, were particularly impressive against City.

Harry Kane can change what a striker is

And if they can strengthen further in January, Spurs could well be title contenders come the end of the season.

Although the transfer window is more than a month away, the rumour mill never stops.

So here are latest Spurs transfer rumours.

Dominik Szoboszlai

Tottenham and Arsenal are reportedly facing competition to sign Red Bull Salzburg star Dominik Szoboszlai from RB Leipzig.

Football Insider claims that the German side want to sign the in-demand 20-year-old in January and loan him back to Salzburg for the rest of the season.

The report says Arsenal made multiple bids to sign the young Hungarian and Spurs have joined the race to sign him too.

The versatile midfielder has netted five times and supplied nine assists from 14 appearances in all competitions this season.

This comes after his stellar 2019-20 campaign yielded 12 goals and 18 assists from 40 appearances.

But it is likely that he will not come cheap for any side that snaps him up.

Sami Khedira

The Juventus midfielder was recently quoted as saying he dreams of playing in the Premier League and he spoke very highly of Mourinho.

The 33-year-old German international said he would "never say no again" to Mourinho but he also sung the praises of Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti in an interview with Sky Sports.

And former Spurs keeper Paul Robinson believes Khedira, whose contract at the Italian giants runs out next summer, has issued a "come and get me plea" to Tottenham.

“It sounds like a come and get me plea to Spurs,” he told Football Insider.

“It shows you the credibility and draw that Jose Mourinho has got.

“Carlo Ancelotti has shown his pull at Everton and Jose Mourinho has the same effect on Spurs. He has a certain relationship with players he previously managed and players will want to come to the club because of it.

“It is a huge coup for Spurs to have a manager with a reputation like his in the game.

“It is huge to see the club linked with players like that. I would love to see him in the Premier League – the best league in the world.”

Khedira played under both Mourinho and Ancelotti during his spell at Real Madrid.

Camavinga opens up on transfer links

Highly-rated Rennes youngster Eduardo Camavinga has set his sights on sealing a move to one of European football's biggest clubs, amid speculation about his future.

The 18-year-old midfielder, who is making great strides in Ligue 1, has been closely linked with a move to either Manchester United or Spurs in recent weeks.

Now, the youngster has admitted that the prospect of joining one of the big clubs makes him "dream."

“The great clubs make me dream, but I cannot name one in particular for my future. We’ll see [about a new deal at Rennes]," said Camavinga, as quoted by TEAMtalk.

“We haven’t set a date to discuss my future, I’m in no rush about it. There will be negotiations to keep me here. It would be a pleasure for me to continue at Rennes.

"I still have two years left on my contract and we have enough time to talk about it.”
