Latest Tottenham transfer rumours: Bid rejected for star midfielder, club eye move for defender

There is under a week left in the transfer window - and Tottenham are reportedly still hoping to complete a few more deals.

Spurs have already signed Jack Clarke from Leeds United and Tanguy Ndombele in a club record move from Lyon, but the Lilywhites continue to be linked with a number of other players as well.

As such, there could still be several incomings and outgoings.

Below, we take a look at the latest transfer rumours involving players who could arrive - and leave.

Giovani Lo Celso

According to Spanish outlet  Deportes , Real Betis’ Giovani Lo Celso has agreed personal terms with Tottenham but so far, the two sides remain apart when it comes to the transfer fee.

Betis are reportedly keen to get the deal done quickly ahead of the transfer deadline.

Toby Alderweireld

Roma have not given up their pursuit of Tottenham defender Toby Alderweireld,  according to Sky Sports.

The Belgium international saw a £25m release clause in his contract expire on Friday and Spurs are yet to receive any offers for the 30-year-old.

However, the report states Roma are still keen on landing the experienced defender who has now entered the final 12 months of his deal.

Bruno Fernandes

Spurs reportedly sent a club official to Lisbon to negotiate a deal for Sporting midfielder Bruno Fernandes, but saw a bid rejected for the 24-year-old.

Fernandes could be an alternative to Giovani Lo Celso for Spurs, with Real Betis said to be holding out for €75m for the Argentina international.

Portuguese outlet  Record  state that the meeting with Spurs representatives at the club’s headquarters in Lisbon finished at 5.30pm, and that the Premier League side had a bid of less than Sporting’s €70m asking price rejected.

A new meeting between the two clubs could apparently happen in the next few days. Manchester United are also interested in Fernandes, but no bid has yet been made by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side.
