Latest Tottenham transfer rumours: £77m Philippe Coutinho price-tag, Sergino Dest blow

Tottenham remain in the hunt for a top-four finish in the Premier League as they look to secure Champions League football for another year but there has been hurdles to overcome.

The transitional period from Mauricio Pochettino's reign into the Jose Mourinho era has been a rollercoaster ride, with significant changes in the process during the January transfer window.

Out went Danny Rose and Christian Eriksen, two key players during the previous regime, and in came Gedson Fernandes and Steven Bergwijn, the first signings of the Mourinho era.

Further business is expected from the Portuguese boss at the end of the season and plenty of rumours continue to circulate, which we have gathered below.

Jose Mourinho on Spurs' progress under him

£77m Coutinho price

Philippe Coutinho's future is a subject that doesn't look to be going away anytime soon, with it becoming increasingly clear that Bayern Munich won't be making his loan move from Barcelona permanent.

As such, links with a return to the Premier League continue to surface and Tottenham's name continues to be thrown into the hat as a potential destination for the Brazil international.

With Barcelona looking to significantly rejuvenate their side this summer, the Express reports that they are preparing to accept a massive hit on the £142m they paid Liverpool for his services.

A price of £77m, almost half of the figure paid by Barcelona two years ago, is said to be enough for a deal to be completed at the end of the season.

Sergino Dest blow

Tottenham are set to miss out on the hunt for the services of Ajax starlet Sergino Dest this summer as Bayern Munich push for a deal, De Telegraaf reports.

In September, the 19-year-old penned a new deal with the Dutch side, who are seeking €30m if he is to be sold, and Bayern are said to be offering around the €20m mark.

He is the latest name to be linked with a summer departure from Amsterdam, with the likes of Donny van de Beek, Dusan Tadic and Hakim Ziyech also being chased by the continent's biggest sides.

Spurs urged to dig deep for Tanganga

Former Tottenham goalkeeper Paul Robinson has urged the club to dig deep in their new contract negotiations with highly-rated defender Japhet Tanganga.

Speaking to Football Insider, Robinson expressed his belief that the young defender deserves to earn a significant increase to his pay following his breakthrough into the first-team picture.

“For Tanganga to come in at such a young age, at 20 years old – I think he’s made seven appearances now – for him to play with the calmness and the comfort that he has, it says a lot about him.

“Financially, he should be rewarded as are the players he’s playing with. He’s playing week in, week out at the moment in the Premier League, he’s in the squad every week and he should be paid accordingly as a Premier League footballer, which he is now.”
