Latest Tottenham transfer rumours: £45m Sabitzer demand, Liverpool defender tipped to sign

Tottenham were one of the more active Premier League clubs during the January transfer window after completing deals for Steven Bergwijn and Gedson Fernandes as well as the permanent signing of Giovani Lo Celso.

Although those recruits have all shown flashes of promise, Tottenham’s patchy form over the past few months has emphasised the need for further reinforcements ahead of next season.

Jose Mourinho has also made no secret of his belief that the squad is lacking depth and quality in certain areas and he will be hoping to receive financial backing from the club’s chairman Daniel Levy in the summer.

Here are three players to have been linked with moves to Spurs.

Spurs step up Sabitzer chase

Tottenham will have to cough up €50million (£45.7million) to sign RB Leipzig’s versatile Austrian midfielder Marcel Sabitzer, according to German publication Bild.

Sabitzer has been one of the key figures during RB Leipzig’s ascent over the past five years and impressed against Spurs in the Champions League last-16, scoring twice in their 3-0 victory earlier this month.

The 26-year-old has already had his most productive Bundesliga campaign to date with eight goals and five assists from 25 appearances while he has two years remaining on his contract with the Champions League quarter-finalists.

Mills tips Spurs to land Lovren

Former Leeds United defender Danny Mills has backed Spurs to win the race to sign Liverpool centre back Dejan Lovren in the summer, with Jan Vertonghen tipped to leave at the end of his contract in June.

The Croatian has one-year remaining on his deal at Anfield and has been linked with a summer exit with Jurgen Klopp preferring Virgil Van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip to the Croatian this season.

"He has slipped down the pecking order at Liverpool and there will now be teams looking to snap him up. He is still a good player,” Mills said.

"There will be Premier League teams high up the table that are looking at his services. He would be an obvious replacement for Jan Vertonghen were he to leave Spurs this summer."

Spurs leading Eze race

Spurs are reportedly leading the way to sign QPR playmaker Eberechi Eze in the summer, after Crystal Palace and Sheffield United dropped out of the race, according to The Sun.

Although QPR have been marooned in mid-table this season, the 21-year-old has been one of the standout players in the Championship, supplying 12 goals and eight assists for Mark Warburton’s side.

Mourinho is a fan of Eze and Spurs would be able to match QPR’s £20m valuation of the England U21 international.
