Latest Tottenham transfer rumours: £30m Piatek move 'unlikely', £9m 'too much' for midfielder

Tottenham's quest for consistency continues, with the 1-1 draw with Southampton in the FA Cup meaning the Lilywhites have won just three of their last 10 matches in all competition.

An already packed fixture schedule now has another match added to it, with a fourth-round replay against the Saints on the cards, and a testing final few days of the transfer window lies ahead.

Jose Mourinho has already secured the services of Gedson Fernandes this month but remains in the hunt for further additions, with a striker a priority due to Harry Kane's injury issues.

A host of names continue to be linked with a transfer to North London and we have gathered some of the latest snippets below.

Eriksen arrives at St Mary's with Spurs but not involved in matchday squad

Piatek chase continues

Tottenham’s chase to sign Krzysztof Piatek from Milan could go right down to deadline day, as The Star report that Spurs have enquired about the Poland international, and Milan want a £30million permanent deal.

However, Daniel Levy is said to be 'highly unlikely' to sanction a deal that big for a striker who will likely be warming the bench come the start of next season.

Levy is ready to wait for the price to come down, or for Milan to sanction a loan for the attacker who has been at San Siro for just a year.

Piatek needs playing time ahead of Euro 2020 and will not be getting much of it at Milan following their acquisition of Zlatan Ibrahimovic. The club have apparently told Piatek he will be benched for the rest of the season.

Mourinho on Eriksen's future

Jose Mourinho has spoken about Christian Eriksen's future as a move to Inter Milan edges closer to completion ahead of Friday's transfer deadline.

The Denmark international was left out of the squad that drew 1-1 with Southampton in the FA Cup, amid reports that an agreement is in place between the Serie A side and Eriksen, and Mourinho has now had his say.

“I just want to say that this situation shouldn’t happen on the 25th of January. And it is not Tottenham’s fault that on the 25th of January we are in the situation," he said after the 1-1 draw with Southampton.

“The only thing I can say is Eriksen, since I arrive, he is behaving in a very, very professional way, with me and the team. Tottenham is the last one to blame for this situation, but to be on the 25th of January in a situation like this is not nice.”

Wanyama price-tag could lower

Tottenham may have to reduce their £9million asking price for Victor Wanyama if they are to offload the Kenyan international this week, the Evening Standard reports.

Wanyama's contract is now in it's final 18 months and Spurs are still keen to offload the former Southampton man, after seeing him reject a £13million transfer to Club Brugge last year.

However, despite their asking price for the 28-year-old reducing by over half in the past 12 months, they are still struggling to find suitors and they may have to lower their price-tag once again.
