Latest Tottenham transfer rumours: £10m Walker-Peters deal, Rose's stance, Spence update

Tottenham have endured a turbulent season but recent performances have led to a rise in optimism heading into the finale of the campaign.

Spurs may not be in a position to play in the Champions League next season but, with the situation earlier in the year looking particularly bleak, securing a spot in the Europa League would be a relief.

Ahead of the summer transfer window, a number of names have already been linked with a move to join Jose Mourinho's side.

Premier League and EFL transfer window changes - Opening dates, new rules and everything you need to know

Here, we have gathered some of the latest snippets.

Southampton eye £10m Walker-Peters deal

Southampton are pushing to complete a permanent deal to sign loanee Kyle Walker-Peters from Tottenham, the Sun states.

The full-back has made a big impression on the South Coast and Ralph Hassenhuttl is keen on securing him on a permanent basis for a fee of around £10m.

However, the loan deal agreed with Spurs in January did not provide the Saints with a purchase option and they will, therefore, have to negotiate new terms with Jose Mourinho's side.

The 23-year-old could attract further interest from other clubs in the Premier League, which would benefit Spurs as a bidding war could emerge.

Middlesbrough's Djed Spence targeted

Tottenham are looking to raid Championship outfit Middlesbrough for the services of defender Djed Spence, ESPN states.

The 19-year-old has two-years remaining on his contract on Teesside, having only signed an extension in February, but the club are fearful that they could face a battle to retain his services.

Spurs could see a shake-up at the back with the aforementioned Walker-Peters looking set to leave, while a decision needs to be made on Serge Aurier's future.

Mourinho is a keen admirer of Spence, having first heard positive reports from his son, but faces competition in the market from West Ham and Brighton.

Danny Rose still keen on Newcastle move

Sticking with the full-back theme today, Danny Rose remains keen on turning his loan spell with Newcastle United into a permanent deal, our sister site Chronicle Live reports.

Rose has one-year remaining on his contract in North London but is keen on returning to Tyneside on a permanent basis, despite Jose Mourinho's latest comments stating his situation is yet to be agreed.

Lazio have also been linked with a move for the England international but there is yet to be any approach from Italy to Rose's representatives.

Spurs would lose Rose for free next summer if he did not leave in the coming months and their demands will be crucial to any potential deal.
