Latest Tottenham transfer news: Bruno Fernandes transfer stalls, Spurs face Emre Can competition

Tottenham Hotspur's hopes of a top-four finish were dealt another blow as they were held to a 0-0 draw by Watford.

In truth, it could have been much worse for Jose Mourinho's side had Paulo Gazzaniga not saved a penalty in the second half.

That further underlined the need for more recruits in Harry Kane's extended absence.

Gedson Fernandes is already through the door but with their leading scorer out of action until mid-April, Jose Mourinho will be desperate to see more bodies through the door.

Here, we round the day's latest Tottenham transfer rumours.

Spurs' Can competition

Juventus are expecting to receive £30million offers from Tottenham and Manchester United for Emre Can.

AC Milan are also interested in signing the former Liverpool midfielder but Spurs and the Red Devils are in pole position, according to Italian outlet  Sport .

Can has made just eight Serie A appearances for Juventus this season and is concerned his lack of game time could affect his place in the German national team ahead of EURO2020.

TuttoSport  claim Can would not have his head turned by interest from United due to his former connections with Liverpool.

Fernandes deal stalls

Manchester United are yet to agree a deal with Sporting Lisbon for Bruno Fernandes.

Tottenham and United were heavily linked with a move for the Portuguese international in the summer but no move materialised.

The MEN  understands no terms have been agreed with Fernandes and negotiations have hit a standstill with United and Sporting so far not agreeing on a fee.

It is understood the Portuguese side want €80million for the midfielder which would be €65million fee plus €15million in add ons - significantly different to the €45million deal which Tottenham were reported to have been offered for the same player in the summer.

Spurs offered strikers

Jose Mourinho admits that Tottenham Hotspur have been offered strikers galore during this January transfer window.

The head coach has made no secret of the fact that Spurs need to bring in a forward before this month ends with Kane ruled out until mid-April.

"Offered? Zero, because nobody gives us a striker like an offer, but I understand what you say. Suggestions, there’s been lots. It’s normal, he said.

"People know our situation, it’s normal, but which strikers and under which conditions and that’s what we must analyse," he said.

"On the calibre of strikers being touted their way, he added: "We’ve always heard of them. Some you know are not as good, but we have club structures, scouting systems and we know the players."
