Latest Spurs transfer rumours: Transfer blow for Premier League winner, new competition for Dias

With just 20 days left of 2019, the transfer rumour mill is in full flow as clubs brace themselves for the opening of the January window.

Jose Mourinho has not ruled out the possibility of Tottenham doing some winter business as his squad prepares for a gruelling festive schedule.

A handful of names have been in the mix for a while but there could also be a few faces linked with a move away from the Lane.

Here's a round-up of all the latest rumours involving Spurs.

Tottenham v Burnley: Jose Mourinho press conference in full

Tottenham and Jose Mourinho suffer transfer blow

Tottenham have suffered a blow in their pursuit of Edin Dzeko after his Serie A club AS Roma rejected their approach for the forward.

That’s according to Italian newspaper Corriere Dello Sport , who also report that have made an offer  to sign Dzeko in the January transfer window.

Dzeko played in the Premier League with Man City and won the league title twice with the Etihad club and has been linked with a move to north London since Jose Mourinho’s arrival.

But Dzeko, who scored nine goals and provided six assists in Serie A last season, now appears to be going nowhere in January.

Spurs make loan decision

Kazaiah Sterling’s season-long loan move at Doncaster Rovers is set to be ended in January.

Tottenham are set to terminate the forward’s deal in the upcoming window with Football Insider reporting it is due to his lack of game time.

A Tottenham source has told the website the club have reached an agreement with Doncaster to end Sterling’s loan at the midway point.

Sterling has made just four appearances in all competitions, only one of which was in the starting eleven, since his arrival in the Yorkshire.

Fresh competition for Dias

Tottenham face competition from a familiar rival for the signature of Ruben Dias.

Spurs have been linked with a move for the centre-back, but sources in Portugal have told Mirror Sport of interest from Manchester City in the 22-year-old.

The right-footed defender is under contract until 2024 at the Estádio da Luz, where he has made 78 appearances. However, his deal also includes a release clause of £59million but the Portuguese side  are trying to raise his buy-out terms to £79m.

City are in the market for a new centre-back in a bid to solve their defensive problems.
