The January transfer window is edging closer and Jose Mourinho will be eyeing up his chance to twist the arm of Daniel Levy.
Levy is well known for not spending big on a regular basis and restricting the transfer exploits of his managers.
However, Mourinho is well known for having the opportunity to splash the cash.
It remains to be seen whether the former Chelsea and Manchester United manager gets that chance again in the capital but just looking at the rumours swirling around, there are plenty of players being linked with Spurs.
Here is the latest round-up.
Mourinho urged to sign forward
Danny Mills has urged Tottenham to sign an attacking player in the January transfer window to help Harry Kane.
Mills has told Football Insider why it's much more likely that Spurs recruit a forward rather than a defender.
"You’ve got Vertonghen and Alderweireld, best partnership in the Premier League, for the last three to four seasons, absolutely outstanding,” Mills told Football Insider.
"Spurs have a couple of good left-backs, good midfield players, so the only January signing may be a back-up for Kane.
"That is likely to be the only one, up front, just to give Kane a rest from time to time, that’s the only position."
Spurs 'target' learning English
Tottenham have been linked with many top players ahead of January and one of them has now said he is learning English.
That's Lille right-back Zeki Celik, who has been linked with a move to Tottenham.
He has now told TRT Spor about his aim to learn English and play in the Premier League.
"My biggest aim is to play in this great competition. I am learning English. I have ambitions and targets. I hope I will reach them," Celik said.
Who Tottenham players want Mourinho to sign
It wouldn't be the build up to the January transfer window without pundits galore telling managers to sign players.
But this latest transfer link comes from within the dressing room, according to Football Insider.
That's right, Tottenham players are reportedly telling Mourinho that he should make a move for Wolves forward Adama Traore.
The 23-year-old has scored three goals and assisted three more in the Premier League this term.
The Tottenham player who almost signed for United
Finally we end on a transfer that Tottenham almost missed out on.
Lucas Moura famously scored a hat-trick in the semi-final second leg of the Champions League last year at Ajax to help Spurs reach the final.
But he could have easily signed for Manchester United, with the 28-year-old having joined Tottenham from Paris Saint-Germain last year.
However, these comments from the forward relate to the transfer interest in him back in 2012 when he was still in Brazil at Sao Paulo.
"Yes, there was a conversation," he told ESPN. "I was very close to closing with Manchester United. It was still at the time of Ferguson.
"I ended up choosing PSG, I spent five fantastic years there, I won a lot, learned a lot. I do not regret it.
"Despite the hard times, the bad times, I don’t regret it because I grew a lot, I learned a lot. Now I’m here in the Premier League, and it’s a new hope."
