Latest Spurs transfer rumours: Man United Eriksen blow, Jose Mourinho's first signing, £50m deal

When Jose Mourinho arrives at a new club you expect money to be spent in the next transfer window.

For Tottenham fans, that window comes up next month in January and if the latest rumours round-up is anything to go by, Spurs are going to spend some cash.

Here is the latest round-up of transfer news and rumours on Tottenham below.

Spurs make move for Gerson

Mourinho is reportedly closing in on his first Tottenham signing since taking over from Mauricio Pochettino.

That man could be Flamengo star Gerson, who return to Brazil in the summer following a rough time at Roma.

Gerson even went on loan to Fiorentina during his final season at Roma but decided to return to Brazil.

However, the 22-year-old has returned to form and has helped Flamengo enjoy their most successful season ever.

The Brazilian side won the Copa Libertadores and narrowly lost in the 2019 FIFA Club World Cup final to Liverpool.

It has been reported by 90min that Mourinho has convinced the midfielder to give European football another go.

£50m move planned

If Gerson comes he is unlikely to be the only addition at Tottenham during the transfer window.

Mourinho wants to add talent and Issa Diop of West Ham United is another name that has been heavily linked.

Diop is wanted by Manchester United as well but Mourinho has entered Tottenham into the race for the midfielder, according to Sky Sports. The centre-back is believed to be valued at £50m by the Hammers.

Eriksen latest amid United links

It wouldn't be a Tottenham transfer round-up without some kind of Christian Eriksen update.

The latest is a potentially promising one for Spurs, with Eriksen said to be set to snub Manchester United in January.

The Daily Star are claiming that United will fail in their second bid to sign the Denmark international, having tried to lure the playmaker to Old Trafford in the summer.

However, the 27-year-old is likely to speak to European clubs aplenty in January and if Spurs can't get him to sign a new deal, a departure still looks likely.
