LATEST DEVELOPMENTS

* Australia has recorded a second straight day of no locally acquired coronavirus cases as infection rates accelerate across the world.

* The achievement comes at a time when there has been more than 400,000 new cases recorded globally each day for the past two weeks.

* The world has eclipsed 50 million cases and 1.25 million deaths.

* Seven new cases were confirmed in NSW and two in South Australia. All were in hotel quarantine.

* NSW authorities still don't know how coronavirus reached a community south of Sydney after days of investigation.

* Victoria's daily streak of no new coronavirus deaths or cases has hit double digits, despite a traveller from WA testing positive.

* Queensland, Western Australia, Tasmania, the Northern Territory and ACT also recorded no new cases.

* Fitness centres closed for most of the year have now reopened, while Melbourne's restaurants and pubs are also enjoying eased restrictions.

* New data from NSW confirms a trend from Victoria - the COVID-19 pandemic has not caused additional suicides.

* Small and medium-firms have felt a greater impact from their staff having to work from home during the COVID-19 pandemic than larger businesses.

* South Australian Premier Steven Marshall says the government's budget, to be handed down on Tuesday, will be the most important in the state's history in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.

AUSTRALIAN CORONAVIRUS NUMBERS

* There were nine new cases recorded in Australia - seven in NSW and two in SA.

* The national death toll is 907: Victoria 819, NSW 55, Tasmania 13, WA 9, Queensland 6, SA 4, ACT 3. (Two Queensland residents who died in NSW have been included in the official tolls of both states.)

* Cases: at least 50,738,624

* Deaths: at least 1,262,142

* Recovered: at least 35,795,605.
