Latest Scottish wedding rules state bride and groom must wear masks for indoor ceremonies

The latest rules for weddings taking place in Scotland have stated that both bride and groom should wear a face covering during the ceremony.

The Scottish Government's 'Health Protection Coronavirus Restrictions' offer guidelines on the rules for various sectors during the coronavirus pandemic.

Now, new guidance has stated that face coverings must be worn by all guests, including the couple being married unless the wedding is completely outdoors, Edinburgh Lives reports.

The only exemption is for the celebrant or person leading the ceremony, who must remain a distance of two metres away from everyone else.

Meanwhile, the couple is only exempt from this when they are saying their vows, and must remain socially distanced from any other guests during this.

However, weddings themselves are still allowed to go ahead, with guidance suggesting a maximum of 20 people and as short a ceremony as possible.

Full guidance on weddings in Scotland can be found at the Scottish Government website here.
