West Lothian continues to be the most infectious place for coronavirus in Scotland.
According to the latest Public Health Scotland data, West Lothian had 382 positive cases between the week March 16 -22, and a new total of 7534 since March 9, 2020.
Therefore the county has a positivity rate over the past seven days of 209 per 100,000, compared to the national average of 71.
West Lothian remains the most infectious place for Covid-19 in Scotland, with North Lanarkshire second highest at 124.
The county’s positivity rate of 209 is four times that of Edinburgh, with 49 per 100,000.
Livingston Village and Eliburn South remains the most infectious neighborhood in West Lothian, with 83 new infections in the past week among their 5332 residents.
Four more of the 37 neighborhoods in the region sit in the highest zone on the PHS heatmap, with more than 400 cases per 100,000.
Deans had 15 new cases, Breich Valley 23, Carmondean and Eliburn North 24 and Howden had 19 infections.
Seven neighborhoods, Blackridge, Westfield and Torphichen, Broxburn East, Fauldhouse, Linlithgow Bridge, Linlithgow North, Seafield and Uphall, Dechmont and Ecclesmachan, have all suppressed the contagion over the week.
One person died as of the latest statistics, taking the total Covid-19 related deaths in the county to 246.
Meanwhile, the Scottish Government this week could not offer any assurances that high school children would return to school after the Easter break.
Education Secretary John Swinney said that data around transmission of the virus would help them to come to a decision in the coming weeks.
He said: “when it comes to the secondary sector, we are proceeding with a certain amount of uncertainty”.
He added: “I have to inject a certain amount of caution about being able to definitely say what will be the position, because I have to monitor the information and the data that prevails over the next two to three weeks.”
