The latest data shows Covid-19 infections in West Lothian are double the peak of winter.
Public Health Scotland’s latest information shows as of July 5 there were 79 new infections in the region.
Across the week there were another 712 cases recorded in West Lothian.
During the winter past, when West Lothian was the most infectious place in Scotland, the weekly rate ranged between 300 and 400 infections.
The PHS data also shows that this week Bathgate, Wester Inch and Inchcross had the most infections of any of the 37 neighbourhoods in the county, with 34 among their 7114 residents.
Meanwhile, the finance secretary, Kate Forbes believes some legal restrictions such as wearing face masks are likely to continue after the so-called ‘Freedom Day’ on August 9.
West Lothian is expected to move to Level 0 on July 19, allowing slightly more freedoms but by August 9 all current regulations were expected to be lifted.
Speaking To BBC’s Good Morning Scotland programme, Ms Forbes said: “We all want to get back to some form of normality and the First Minister has set out in Scotland our own timetable.
“There are some similarities but there are two fundamental differences with Boris Johnson’s announcement yesterday.
“The first is, on the timetable itself: we have said that all of Scotland will move to Level 0 on July 19, so that includes the easing of physical distancing indoors and outdoors, and then we’ll move beyond Level Zero from August 9.”
