A further 7,606 cases of coronavirus have been reported in Scotland – with the disease claiming another 21 lives.
Latest figures published by the Scottish Government and Public Health Scotland show there are 1,537 patients with Covid in Scottish hospitals which is up 58 from yesterday.
There are currently 59 people with the disease being treated in ICUs.
Meanwhile, there are 134 patients with Covid in Ayrshire hospitals – up five from yesterday – while fewer than five people are being treated with the illness in the region's intensive care units.
The new fatalities, recorded in the last 24 hours, mean Scotland's death toll from the virus now stands at 9,971.
However, 12,543 deaths had been registered up to Sunday, January 9 where the disease was mentioned on the death certificate.
In terms of Public Health Scotland's rolling seven-day infection rate per 100,000 population, West Dunbartonshire has the highest rate in the country – at 1,855.3 as of Tuesday, January 11.
South Lanarkshire has the second-highest infection rate at 1,850.6 while Inverclyde is third with 1,834.9.
In terms of Ayrshire's thee local authorities, North Ayrshire has the highest rate of 1,601.5; East Ayrshire's rate stands at 1,520.6 while South Ayrshire's is 1,436.6.
Of the 473 new cases reported in Ayrshire, 183 were in North Ayrshire with 160 in East Ayrshire and 129 in South Ayrshire.

A total of 4,394,756 people have received one dose of a Covid vaccine; 4,054,752 are double jabbed and 3,145,537 people have received a third dose/booster.
