Latest Public Health Scotland Covid infection rate figures for all 32 council areas

A further 2,870 Covid cases have been diagnosed in Scotland within the last 24 hours.

Figures have been published by the Scottish Government and Public Health Scotland (PHS) this afternoon as part of the national Covid-19 daily briefing.

Nationally, there are 1,107 patients being treated in hospital which is up 19 from yesterday. There are currently 94 people with the disease being treated in ICUs.

The number of newly-reported positive coronavirus cases recorded by NHS Ayrshire & Arran has increased by 218 to 37,370.

Of the new cases, 80 were from North Ayrshire, 79 in East Ayrshire and 59 attributed to South Ayrshire.

A total of 538,819 positive tests have now been recorded from 3.085 million tests carried out since the start of the pandemic.

According to Public Health Scotland's rolling seven-day infection rate per 100,000 population, West Dunbartonshire has the highest rate in the country – at 746.0 as of Monday, September 20.

South Ayrshire has the second-highest infection rate at 656.3 while North Lanarkshire was third with 653.7.

In terms of Ayrshire's other local authorities, North Ayrshire's rate is 595.9 and East Ayrshire's is 582.2.

A total of 15 of Scotland's 32 council regions have an infection rate below the national average of 485.8.

There have been 18 new deaths in the last 24 hours which means 8,396 people have passed away since March 2020.

However, data from the National Records of Scotland (NRS) shows 10,688 deaths had been registered up to Sunday, September 12 where the disease was mentioned on the death certificate.

Across the UK, the figure is 135,455 as of tonight.

There are 114 patients being treated for the disease in Ayrshire hospitals, which is down one on yesterday, and seven in ICUs, which is also a reduction of one from yesterday.

Nationally, a total of 4,160,835 people have received the first dose of a Covid vaccine and 3,813,547 have received their second dose.
