A further 6,815 new cases of coronavirus have been reported in Scotland in the last 24 hours – with the disease claiming another 22 lives.
Latest data published by the Scottish Government and Public Health Scotland shows there are 977 Covid patients in Scottish hospitals – up 49 from yesterday.
The number of people battling the virus in ICUs across the nation is 82 – down five over the same period.
Scotland's Covid death toll now stands at 8,232.
However, 10,612 deaths have been registered in Scotland where Covid-19 was mentioned on the death certificate up to Sunday, September 5.
In terms of Public Health Scotland's rolling seven-day infection rate per 100,000 population, West Dunbartonshire has the highest rate in the country – at 1,317.6 as of Thursday, September 9.
North Lanarkshire has the second-highest infection rate at 1,198 while Inverclyde is third with 1,148.5.
In terms of Ayrshire's three local authorities, North Ayrshire has the highest rate of 872.3 while East Ayrshire's rate is 793.6 and South Ayrshire's is 707.2
A total of 503 new cases of Covid were reported in Ayrshire – 74 more than yesterday. Broken down, 220 were in North Ayrshire, 155 in East Ayrshire and 128 in South Ayrshire.

There are 66 Covid patients in Ayrshire hospitals – up five from yesterday – while eight people are battling the disease in intensive care in the region.
A total of 4,135,329 people have received the first dose of the Covid vaccine and 3,762,367 have received a second dose.
