Latest Public Health Scotland Covid infection rate data as 146 new cases confirmed

A further 146 Covid cases have been announced in Scotland within the last 24 hours.

Figures have been published this afternoon by the Scottish Government as part of its national COVID-19 daily briefing.

According to Public Health Scotland's rolling seven-day infection rate per 100,000 population, Moray has the highest infection rate in the country – at 64.7 as of Saturday, May 1.

The second-highest is East Dunbartonshire which has a rate of 48.8 while East Ayrshire (36.1) has the third-highest rate. The rate for Scotland is 21.9 and the full list of all councils is just below...

Elsewhere locally, North Ayrshire's is 15.6 and South Ayrshire has a rate of 24.0.

No new deaths have been confirmed in the last 24 hours which means 7,660 people have passed away since March 2020.

However, data from the National Records of Scotland (NRS) shows 10,078 deaths had been registered up to Sunday, April 25 where the disease was mentioned on the death certificate.

Across the UK, the figure is 127,524 as of last night.

The number of newly-reported positive coronavirus cases recorded by NHS Ayrshire & Arran has increased by six.

Of the new cases, four were from East Ayrshire, two were attributed to North Ayrshire and there were zero new cases for the second day in a row in South Ayrshire.

Zero new cases were also recorded in Argyll & Bute, Dumfries & Galloway, Inverclyde, Midlothian, Na h-Eileanan Siar, Orkney and Shetland Islands.

Across Scotland, as of 8.30am this morning, a total of 2,817,752 people had received the first dose of their Covid vaccine with 1,297,664 having received their second dose.
