A further 3,893 new cases of coronavirus have been reported in Scotland in the last 24 hours – including 337 in Ayrshire.
Latest data published today by the Scottish Government and Public Health Scotland shows there are 551 Covid patients in Scottish hospitals – up 72 since Friday.
The number of people battling the virus in ICUs across the nation is 52 — up five over the same period.
No new fatalities have been reported meaning Scotland's Covid death toll remains at 8,111.
However, 10,505 deaths have been registered in Scotland where the virus was mentioned on the death certificate up to Sunday, August 22.
In terms of Public Health Scotland's rolling seven-day infection rate per 100,000 population, East Dunbartonshire has the highest rate in the country — at 1,175.2 as of Sunday, August 29.
North Lanarkshire has the second-highest infection rate at 1,173.4 while West Dunbartonshire is third with 1,142.2.
In terms of Ayrshire's three local authorities, North Ayrshire has the highest rate of 687.5 while South Ayrshire's rate is 604.6 and East Ayrshire's is 552.6.
Of the new cases of Covid reported in Ayrshire, 161 were in North Ayrshire, 100 in East Ayrshire and 76 in South Ayrshire.

There are 24 Covid patients in Ayrshire hospitals – down one from yesterday – while fewer than five people are battling the disease in intensive care in the region.
A total of 4,103,687 people have received the first dose of a Covid vaccine and 3,668,041 have received a second dose.
