Latest Public Health England coronavirus numbers show just one new case in Nottinghamshire

No new cases of coronavirus have been confirmed in Nottingham and just one new case in Nottinghamshire in the last 24 hours, latest data shows.

As of 4pm on Wednesday (June 10), the total number of Covid-19 cases in Nottingham remains at 617, while there are 1,453 cases in total in Nottinghamshire - up just one.

Overall, there have now been 2,070 cases in both the city and county since records began in early March.

It comes as another 245 coronavirus deaths have been reported in the UK.

The Government’s figures say the total number of people to have died from the virus in Britain in all settings now stands at 41,128.

As of 9am June 10, there have been 6,042,622 tests, with 170,379 tests on June 9.

In the UK, 290,143 people have tested positive, an increase of 1,003.

The current number of cases for each borough and district in Nottinghamshire are shown below.

Gedling - 223 (no change)

Rushcliffe - 198 (no change)

Mansfield - 133 (no change)

Newark and Sherwood - 169 (no change)

Ashfield - 244 (no change)

Broxtowe - 240 (no change)

Bassetlaw - 246 (up one)

Meanwhile, couples kept apart by lockdown restrictions could be reunited and some grandparents will be able to hug their grandchildren from Saturday under plans set out by Boris Johnson.

The latest move to ease England’s coronavirus lockdown will allow adults living alone or single parents to form a “support bubble” with one other household.

They would then be allowed to mix as though they were one household, spending time together indoors, not having to follow the two-metre rule and would be allowed to stay overnight.

Ministers believe the latest easing of the lockdown will help those who have been left isolated while still restricting the spread of coronavirus.

He also confirmed all non-essential retail can reopen on June 15, as well as zoos and safari parks in England.
