Latest Premier League rumours: Werner unlikely to join Liverpool, Man United's Dalot decision

As the Premier League teams voted to return to training this week, behind the scenes, coaches, scouts, and directors continue to search for ways to improve their squads.

Across the league, teams are hoping to further add talent to the team, navigating what could be one of the most awkward summer windows in recent memory.

Here are your Premier League transfer rumours for Thursday, May 21st

The most expensive Premier League transfers ever

Sane pay-cut if he joins Bayern

Manchester City winger Leroy Sane has been heavily linked with a move away from the Premier League, with Bayern Munich the favourites for his signature.

Sane has now been told Bayern will reduce the German’s wages if he does join the Bundesliga leaders.

The 24-year-old is now in the final year of his contract at City and the Premier League champions could sell him for a reduced price this summer.

German publication Bild, via AS , are reporting Sane has been informed that he must lower his wages by around 30 per cent to join the European powerhouse.

United wish to keep Dalot

Manchester United are keen on keeping defender Diogo Dalot at the club despite rumours he could be about to leave, according to ESPN .

The report states Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain are two clubs who are keen on the Portuguese defender.

ESPN has revealed Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is keen to keep hold of the 21-year-old, despite the interest from the two European giants.

Dalot has played just four times in the Premier League for Solskjaer’s side this season.

How COVID-19 may prevent Liverpool signing Werner

This summer was never going to be too busy for Liverpool in terms of transfer dealings, as James Pearce writes in the Athletic .

Prior to the postponement of football across the UK in March, the Reds were closing in on the perfect signing in Timo Werner.

Werner had a release clause in his RB Leipzig contract of €60m (£53.7m) that Liverpool were keen to exploit to bring in one of European football’s brightest young talents.

However, the COVID-19 pandemic has caused all sorts of uncertainty in football, and the Athletic report Liverpool are unlikely to make any major signings in the summer window.
