Latest Premier League rumours: Bayern lead Havertz race, Man United contact Willian

The Premier League is now just a day away from returning to our television screens for the first time since March.

Since then, the transfer rumours have been a major source of sports news, with teams still aiming to improve their squad for next season.

However, due to the coronavirus outbreak, clubs’ finances may be heavily impacted and this could be one of the quietest windows in terms of money spent, but teams are still aiming to find any bargains from across Europe.

The most expensive Premier League transfers ever

With that in mind, here are the best Premier League transfer rumours from today.

Bailey eyed by United

Manchester United are reportedly considering a £40million swoop for Bayer Leverkusen star Leon Bailey, amid their struggles to sign top targets Jadon Sancho and Jack Grealish.

According to the Mail Online , United are considering Bailey as a cheaper option than Sancho in the transfer market.

The 22-year-old has also been linked with Man City in the past.

United 'make contact' with Willian

Manchester United have reportedly made contact with Willian’s representatives over a potential transfer.

The Chelsea winger is believed to have been on United’s radar in the past, but will be available for free this summer when his Stamford Bridge contract expires.

According to France Football , United are keen to sign him on a short term deal, while the forward has also been linked with Arsenal, Tottenham and Liverpool in recent months.

Bayern lead Havertz race

Bayern Munich are in pole position to win the race for Kai Havertz and want him to join Manchester City's Leroy Sane in a new-look attack next season, claims a report.

According to The Daily Telegraph , Bayern are working on deals for Havertz and Sane - who recent reports in Germany claimed Liverpool had made a shock bid for - as their priorities when the transfer window opens at the end of the extended season.

Havertz has been monitored by several of Europe's top clubs for several years now and has also been linked with Chelsea over the past few weeks.

Silva 'wants €11million salary'

Everton and Tottenham are reportedly battling it out for Brazil legend Thiago Silva after the veteran centre-back was released by Paris St Germain.

However, although the 35-year-old won't require a transfer fee, he's not expected to come cheap.

Sports Lens quote RMC Sport as reckoning that Silva - who Carlo Ancelotti has signed twice before - wants €11 million (£9.83 million) per year as salary.
