Latest Premier League rumours: Arsenal negotiate £45m Partey deal, Gabriel to Everton update

The Premier League season remains ongoing with no more hiccups preventing the top tier from meandering towards its eventual conclusion just yet.

Liverpool have wrapped up their title but there is still plenty to be sorted between now and the final day on July 26.

But while focus remains, for the most part, on matters between the white line, many officials at clubs up and down the league are already turning attention towards the summer transfer market.

The most expensive Premier League transfers ever

With that in mind, here are the biggest transfer rumours for Wednesday, July 1.

Arsenal's Kluivert hopes ended

Arsenal's hopes of landing Roma youngster Justin Kluivert are said to be over.

Reports did suggest the Gunners could land the highly-rated Dutchman as part of a swap deal for Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

But Mkhitaryan has now extended his loan to the end of the season with a deal in place to join permanently, and there is no sign of an agreement over Kluivert.

That's because reports coming out of Italy suggest Roma are keen to get the very most out of Kluivert having been hit hard by the coronavirus pandemic.

They feel the 21-year-old winger's value could surge in years to come and don't wish to sell him this summer.

Everton could still land Gabriel

Everton could have a deal in place to sign Lille defender Gabriel Magalhães by the end of the week.

That's according L'equipe, who say the Toffees are very much still in the running for the centre-back despite reports suggesting otherwise in recent weeks.

The report says Everton, as well as Napoli, will know by the end of the week whether they have won the race to sign Gabriel, who is being tipped to leave Lille on a €22m deal.

Arsenal 'unwilling' to meet Partey release clause

Arsenal are still desperate to land Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey, but they are not willing to meet his release clause.

According to The Athletic, who claim the Gunners have 'intensified' their pursuit of the Ghana international.

Despite that, Arsenal are said to be reluctant to pay the £45m Atletico are asking for.

That price is Partey's release clause, so if met, the La Liga giants could not stand in the midfielder's way.

But the Gunners are hoping they can negotiate a cheaper price.
