This week we've seen the demand for petrol and diesel rocket.
As drivers queued up to fill up and the government put the army on standby to drive fuel tankers, was anyone really conscious of the price of the fuel they were filling up with?
Even at the end of August, the AA declared that unleaded petrol prices had risen giving an average price that rose from 133.1 p/litre in July to 135.4 p litre by August 31. Diesel prices had risen from 135 p litre to 136.7 per litre in the same period.
The AA added that supermarket prices for unleaded averaged 132.2 p/litre. The gap between supermarket prices and the UK average for unleaded growing to 3.2 p/litre.
With demand now at an all time high, we got to thinking about current prices and if the crisis had pushed figures up further.
