Latest PCR test costs for Jet2, easyJet, Tui, British Airways and Ryanair for green and amber list destinations

As a new system for travelling abroad is set to be introduced from next week, more people are planning a getaway this autumn.

When the travel update was released, the health secretary also revealed plans for the day two PCR test to be replaced with cheaper lateral flow tests later in October.

A firm date for when this change will be brought in hasn’t been announced yet, although there are reports that it will be in place by October half-term.

While we’re still waiting for this new testing rule to be confirmed, it is important to be aware of what’s expected from you before you jet off abroad.

Testing is still necessary before going anywhere, although the requirements do change depending on where you are going to.

All holidaymakers are advised that they should not use NHS tests for their holiday - although PCR testing remains completely free for people with symptoms of Covid 19.

Test costs, for those without symptoms looking to travel abroad, have fluctuated throughout the course of the pandemic, so we have put together a list of the latest costs.

These prices were correct at the time of writing.

Jet 2 have several testing options available (PA)

Jet2

Jet2 offers a number of options for customers, with discount codes for tests from suppliers Collinson and Randox.

The price of your tests really depends on where you're travelling to, so it's important to check before travel.

PCR tests start at £43 each, and lateral flow and antigen tests are also available from £18.80.

easyJet

easyJet advise passengers to be aware of the colour of the destination on the day of their return to the UK, as well as their age and vaccination status, which determines what action needs to be taken.

The airline is offering discounted tests from Randox and Collinson, which will mean tests start at £43 for an at home test and £50 in person with Randox for a pre-travel PCR test.

Collinson tests are slightly more expensive at £66. Meanwhile lateral flow tests started at £23.

TUI

TUI has teamed up with government-authorised providers Chronomics to offer testing packages for their customers.

More details can be found by entering your booking number, but this summer TUI offered testing packages costing from £20 for its package holiday customers.

British Airways

British Airways is also listing a number of different suppliers.

Prices vary depending on the provider and type of test, such as test to leave the UK, test to enter the UK, day two and day eight arrivals, and test to release.

Prices for a lateral flow test with Chronomics start at £18.80, while a pre-departure PCR test with Collinson is £55.20.

Ryanair

Ryanair offers a number of test packs for pre and post-departure.

A green travel pack, which includes 1x pre-departure text and 1x day two PCR test pack, is priced at £86 with its discount code FLYRYANAIR.

A pre-departure home-testing kit is £43 with the discount code. Here, a travel certificate is provided and you can get next day results from the receipt of the sample.

An amber travel pack is £129 with a discount code, which contains a 1x pre-departure PCR test, 1x Day 2 and Day 8 PCR test pack.
