Latest on Swansea City manager hunt as ex-Stoke City man now tipped for job and former Liverpool coach touted

Former Wales and Stoke City coach Mark Bowen is now the odds-on favourite to become new Swansea City boss.

Bowen, who was Mark Hughes' assistant with the Potters and during his time as national team boss, has come from nowhere in the betting and is being tipped to succeed Graham Potter at the Liberty Stadium.

The man from Neath has now shot through to the top of the list of favourites with SkyBet this afternoon and is now odds on to take the job.

Bowen has followed Hughes everywhere he has managed, assisting the ex-Wales boss at Blackburn, Man City, Fulham, Queens Park Rangers, Stoke and Southampton.

He was in the running for the Swansea job just over a decade ago, and has been linked on subsequent occasions since.

Swansea are into the third week of their search for a new boss, with former also now believed to be in the frame. He is the currently England Under-17 chief.

But Liberty sources have played down the chances of former Manchester United man and current Wales No.2 Albert Stuivenberg , with Michael Flynn and Micky Mellon believed to be out of the running.

Chairman Trevor Birch is adamant he wants a manager who can continue the promising work begun by Potter in SA1 with an emphasis on front-foot football and the ability to work with Swansea's respected academy system.
