Latest on knifing of man in attempted robbery near Bristol city centre

Police say investigations are ongoing three months after a man was stabbed in Montpelier.

The 35-year-old man was attacked in an attempted robbery on Ashley Road at about 2am on October 21 last year. No arrests have been made.

He then made his way to Dove Street, Kingsdown, where paramedics treated him before he was taken to hospital.

An Avon and Somerset police spokesman said in November that a 28-year-old man had voluntarily attended a police station for interview.

He was released under investigation while further enquiries took place.

A force spokesman said today (January 16) the enquiries are continuing, including forensic investigations.

The man who attended the police station remains released under investigation.

The victim's injuries were not life-changing. He was discharged from hospital within days of the attack.

The investigation saw the steps linking Dove Street and Dove Street South taped off on October 21.

"The victim has given an initial statement describing his attacker as a man of mixed race appearance, about 5ft 6ins tall and stocky," a force spokesman said at the time.
