Latest on Justin Fields’ Injury Timeline Surfaces, per Insider

Bears quarterback Justin Fields may not be sidelined for long after suffering a dislocated thumb in the team’s 19-13 loss to the Vikings in Week 6, according to Fox Sports’ Jay Glazer.

During the third quarter of Bears-Vikings game, Fields was scrambling to his left before he was sacked from behind by Vikings outside linebacker Danielle Hunter. After Hunter brought Fields to the ground, it appeared that he landed on Fields’s right hand.

Ahead of Week 7 action on Sunday, Glazer said the Bears’ quarterback likely avoided a major injury in last week’s contest.

“Lot of times when you dislocate a thumb, it pops out but then bones can break, ligaments and tendons, that’s not what happen,” Glazer said, per the broadcast. “Pop out and pop back in… it’s just a matter of getting strength back, could be [Justin Fields] just missing this week and maybe next week.

The Bears (1-5) face the Raiders on Sunday and go on the road to face the Chargers on Oct. 29. It is possible that Fields could return to the field when the Bears face the Saints on Nov. 5 in New Orleans if Glazer’s timeline is correct.

In Chicago’s loss to Minnesota, Fields completed 6-of-10 passes for 58 yards with one interception. This season, Fields has thrown for 1,201 yards, 11 touchdowns and six interceptions while rushing for 237 yards and one touchdown. Fields has also been sacked 24 times through six weeks of the NFL season.
