Latest on future of Nottingham Forest ace Matty Cash amid Aston Villa talk

Matty Cash starts September as a Nottingham Forest player, but it remains to be seen whether that will be the case come the end of the month.

As the transfer saga of the summer on the banks of the River Trent, the future of the Reds right-back continues to dominate the headlines.

Cash has a long list of suitors chasing his signature, with some having tracked him for some time.

Sheffield United, Fulham, West Ham United and Burnley have all been linked, while AC Milan are believed to have kept an eye on him after their interest in January.

But a move to the Premier League appears likely, with Aston Villa seemingly in pole position to fend off the competition.

Currently, however, it is understood there isn’t yet an agreement in place with Villa.

That may well change quickly, with transfer developments always having the potential to move at a fast pace - particularly given the new season is only a matter of days away.

The chances of Cash remaining at the City Ground for this term would still appear to be slim.

The Nigel Doughty Academy product stood out with an impressive campaign in 2019/20, seeing him crowned the club’s Player of the Year.

He made 45 appearances in total for Sabri Lamouchi’s men last season and scored three goals.
