Latest odds on Mesut Ozil's next club as Arsenal star is backed for January transfer window exit

Mesut Ozil is being backed to leave Arsenal in the January transfer window, with a move to Turkey being the favoured destination for the former Germany international.

The 30-year-old has been expelled from Unai Emery's squad in recent weeks and has struggled to compete at the expected level during the past year.

Speculation regarding his future emerged prior to the summer transfer window, although Ozil's stance was always that he would not be moving away from north London.

That has now been reignited following his struggles this season and, as a result, the chances of him securing a move in the January transfer window have risen.

Turkish duo Fenerbache and Galatasaray are the most likely destinations for Ozil, according to Betway, with the midfielder previously admitting his desire to play in the nation previously.

A move to MLS is tipped at 5/1, while a return to Germany is also on the cards, with Werder Bremen and Schalke, two of the World Cup winner's former employers.

"A January move for Mesut Ozil would be ideal for him as well as Arsenal, who have been paying him a fortune to sit on the sidelines," Betway's Alan Alger said.

"Fenerbahce are the 2/1 favourites to sign the former German international, with Galatasaray next in the betting at 4/1, while we make MLS a 5/1 shot for the 30-year-old.

"Ozil is 7/1 for a return to his homeland with either Werder Bremen or Schalke, and he’s 10/1 to join up with Inter Milan."
